Lev Parnas, a former associate of Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump, was convicted of conspiracy to illegally funnel money from Russian businessmen into the 2018 elections in the U.S. where he wanted to open recreational cannabis businesses.

Parnas, who'd been sentenced to 20 months, was granted permission to consume medical marijuana while on probation following his release from federal prison last week, a judge ruled Monday, reported the NY Post.

Manhattan federal prosecutors said that Parnas had connected Giuliani with Ukraine contacts who agreed to dig up dirt on Hunter Biden as part of a Trump-Giuliani election scheme to discredit Democratic opponent Joe Biden.
