RI Gov. Elects 3 Experts To Keep Rhode Island's Cannabis Market Regulated & Licensed
Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee has appointed three experts to the Cannabis Control Commission to be responsible for regulation, licensing and control of the medical and recreational cannabis markets in the state.
The move comes after five licensed medical cannabis compassion centers kicked off recreational marijuana sales in December 2022.
According to a press release, McKee's nominees who "bring diverse and relevant experience" are:
- Kimberly Ahern, current deputy chief of staff for the office of Gov. McKee and deputy counsel for the office of former Gov. Gina Raimondo, will chair the board;
- Robert Jacquard, an attorney who served for 22 years with the Cranston Police Department and as a state representative from 1993 until 2021; and
- Layi Oduyingbo, the owner, founder and managing attorney at a law firm …
