New York Gets Another Marijuana Store Run By Entrepreneur Previously Criminalized By Cannabis Prohibition

New York is getting another recreational marijuana store, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday.

Located at 119-121 East State Street in Ithaca, the Upstate New York State-based shop will kick off cannabis sales on Thursday, March 16.

Owned by William Durham, an entrepreneur previously criminalized by cannabis prohibition, is supported by the New York State Social Equity Cannabis Investment Fund and will open as a pop-up, according to a press release.

"With the opening of William Jane in Ithaca, we're continuing to build an adult-use cannabis industry in our state that works to offset the harms caused by disproportionate arrests made during cannabis prohibition," Hochul said.
